The Varsity Jr. Argos have to recover from their loss last week if they have any hope of beating the Sudbury Gladiators this Sunday at St. Michaelβs Field.
The Jr. Argos suffered a disappointing loss against the Clarington Knights 35-21, to start the season 0-1. The team will keep home field advantage as the club from Sudbury will make the drive down to the GTA.

The Gladiators hope to keep their momentum going as they trounced the Nipissing Wild 31-7 in their season opener.
The Gladiators have gone to the OFC playoffs every year since 2008, and have every intention of going 8-0 this season. If the Jr. Argos have any chance of stopping them, they will have to play better than they did last week.
Against Clarington, the Jr. Argos simply could not get their game going. They went three and out on a couple of occasions and penalties caused many successful plays to be called back. The Jr. Argos are going to have to play a disciplined game and make hard clean hits to bring down the mighty Gladiators.
Jr. Argos QB Chris Sharanewych had a rough game last week as he was tackled a few times and threw a few incompletions. He is going to have to connect with his receivers more consistently and get the running game going if the team is going to be successful.

The defense will have to step of their game too. Last week they allowed the Knights to run the ball way too often. Last week, Gladiator QB Dan Poirier ran the ball for 59 yards. Along with the running game, the Jr. Argos will have to look out for WR Matthew Vettoretti as he leads the Gladiators with four catches for 144 yards and one TD.
The Jr. Argos are going to come out looking for their first win and hopefully the disappointing loss of last week will be all the motivation the team will need to get the job done.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
