βThis is an exciting change for me,β says Boivin. βI look forward to working with people at Concordia to enhance the universityβs varsity sports teams, and find new ways to engage all our students, faculty and staff in recreational activities to support their health and well-being.β
Boivin obtained a bachelor of commerce in finance and international business from HEC MontrΓ©al.
In his three seasons as director of hockey operations for the Canadiens, Boivin oversaw daily team operations including budget management, league affairs, team services and internal business cooperation.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Boivin is involved in several charitable and sports organizations. He is co-founder of the Marathon de Sport de MontrΓ©al for Special Olympics QuΓ©bec, which has raised more than $100,000 for the Special Olympics in the past two years.
Boivin is also a team captain for the 1,000-km Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie cycling race, which raises funds for projects that encourage young people to adopt healthy life habits, and he participates in the Sainte-Justine Winter Triathlon, an event that raises hundreds of thousands of dollars annually for children, parents and professionals at the Sainte-Justine University Hospital Centre. He is a member of the board of the Fondation du Collège Notre-Dame, helping the school achieve its educational objectives and develop new projects.
