CEGEP defensive back newest recruit to join OUA team’s 2014 class.
James Donald was faced with one of the toughest decisions he had to make of his gridiron career.
βWhen trying to figure out what university I would be attending for the 2014 season, the choice was not made easy for me,β expressed Donald.Β βThere were some great options close to home.β
After careful thought and consideration alongside his family, the 5β11, 190 pound defensive back from Montreal, Quebec will begin his CIS career in Kingston, Ontario.Β Recently, Donald signed with the Queenβs Golden Gaels for the 2014 OUA season.
βIn the end, my family and I decided that Queenβs was the best of option for me,β explained Donald of his choice.Β βThe reason I have chosen Queenβs is due to the great academics, along with the extremely competitive football program.β
βCoaches Pat and Ryan Sheahan have been extremely patient and understanding throughout the entire recruiting process. They handled everything with class, and were very welcoming, making me feel very comfortable.β
Donald comes to the Golden Gaels after completing his CEGEP career with Division 1 team, Vanier Cheetahs. During his three year stint with the Cheetahs, the Quebec defensive back started at both the safety and halfback positions.
Previous to the Cheetahs, Donald suited up for the Lakeshore Cougars.
As for the Golden Gaels, the team is excited to welcome the Quebec defensive standout into the fold.
βJames was an outstanding CEGEP βAAAβ defensive player at Vanier College,β commented Golden Gaels Head Coach Pat Sheahan.Β βHe has good football acumen and range.β
βJames is fast and physical player with big play ability. He will be very useful for us at Queenβs next year. He has a solid academic profile and bright future. Β Β James hails from Kirkland in Montrealβs West Island suburb and played minor football with the Lakeshore Cougars. He is a great addition to a very good 2014 recruiting class at Queenβs.β
