Queenβs Golden Gaels have announced the addition of John Bews to their football program.
The 6β4, 225 pound tight end from Pointe Claire, Quebec will join the Golden Gaels for the 2015 OUA season.
Recently, Bews completed his high school career south of the border with Concord, New Hampshireβs St. Paulβs. This past season, he racked up 432 yards on 19 receptions and scored five touchdowns.
βJohn is a great catch for us here at Queenβs,β commented Golden Gaels Head Coach Pat Sheahan.Β βHe is a Loyola High School grad from Montreal, QC who has played the past two years at St Paulβs School in Concord, New Hampshire.β
βHe was a member of the 2013 Team Quebec under-18 club that won the Canada Cup Gold medal in Moncton, New Brunswick.Β John is an outstanding βbig receiverβ in the Queenβs tradition. He stands all of 6β3 and weighs in at 225 pounds.Β He is a classic tight-end who will profit from a running start in the CIS. He has a physical presence and he excels as a possession receiver the high traffic areas. He is also an excellent blocker. Β He has followed a similar pathway as former Gael receiver Scott MacDonell, now playing for the Ottawa Redblacks. John is an excellent student will study in the Arts faculty.β
For his part, Bews felt the Kingston, Ontario campus gave him the best chance to succeed on and off the field.
βThe main reason I decided to commit to Queens is because I feel like it is the university that gives me the best opportunity to maximize my potential in the classroom and on the field,β elaborated Bews.
