Football, The Real stuff with a touch of wine and cheese! Part 2

So it is week 8. Life in France has been pretty busy, and because of it I had no time to send an update until now.

So here is a quick run down on how the season is going.

The Centaures of Grenoble are 2-1-1. Won two huge games and tied against one of the best teams in the league. Yes we tied… they don’t have OT here … only in playoffs. So we are currently tied for 3rd, but 4th because of points scored differential.

As I previously mentioned I am playing SS and a little Sam backer on D and RB on O. Charles-Antoine and myself were named as 2 of the 4 team captains.

On a personal note, I am leading the team in tackles… 35 total, one fumble recovery, 4 pass brk ups, 1 sack and a TD. On offense, C-A is using a 70-30 % passing off. When I get the ball I have just under a 5 yrd avg running and around 8 yrd avg receiving. Here are the numbers… 4 games played… 190 rushing yards, 39 carries, 1 TD. 110 receiving yards, 13 receptions, 2 TDs!!

Now for a look on how life is playing for a team in France.
Our last game was March 6th and our next one is March 27th. We had two bye weeks in a row. The week prior to our March 6th game my parents visited. That was amazing. I got to spend time with my family and show them how life is in Europe. It was my Dads first time in Europe and by the end he did not want to leave. My mom just loved the scenery and she wanted to go to every local shop to see what local items she could purchase. Aside the amazing Scenery, the warm weather and the relaxed European life style, my parents were most impressed by the price of wine. The same bottles you would find in Montreal cost less then half price here in Grenoble.

I got lucky because two weeks in a row I had people visit. Once my parents left one of my best friends from McGill visited. Marie-Pier was very excited to be here. She had already been to Europe, but she wanted to see the Alps. So we packed the car and visited Annecy and Chamonix France. The whole time I was wondering what there was to see in Chamonix. I wondered until I found myself in a Gondola going up the alps to finally reach 3842m of altitude. I was at the top of Europe, and right in front of me was Mont-Blanc, standing 4 810m high. Mont-Blanc is the highest peak in Europe. A sight that will forever be in my mind. The next thing is to climb to the top. I spoke with some locals and they said that it is not a very technically difficult climb, but it was a very physical one. Added that to my bucket list.

The weekend after, C-A and I got together with our ex-Redmen Teammate Jonathan Bower, who plays for Aix en Provence, and visited Torino and Milan Italy. Both were amazing cities to visit.

C-A and I did not only visit during our time off. We have been hard at work in and out of practice. Around all that fun, there is still a season to be played.

I will try to write on a more regular basis. As for now, I got to go get ready for our game this coming weekend.

Thanks
Until next time!
