Hi, my name is Bob Hinde and I am the President of the TNT Express Football club in New Tecumseth, Ontario. I thought it might be interesting for the subscribers to get a glimpse of what goes on in the boardroom leading up to the spring football season. I will update you on all the administrative details that have to be attended to in a youth football club to get our 6 teams registered and outfitted prior to training camp in April. We are a member of the Ontario Minor Football League which has 13 other members in the Southern Ontario area. For our club the 2011 season will officially begin with our Annual General Meeting which will take place in October. At this meeting we invite all members to attend to vote on new executive positions, review the financial statements for the club and to provide input on programs or other issues. The joke with our executive is that very few people attend the AGM since they are happy with the way things are being run. We have a 9 member executive group and each position is a 2 year term. We have staggered the voting on these positions so that only half are up for election in any given year which provides us with continuity from year to year. After the AGM the new executive group will meet for the first time in November for the longest meeting of the year. At this meeting we will discuss all club functions and events for the 2011 season, create an initial budget, create a task list for all club events and appoint a coaches committee among other things. This is usually a lively meeting with the veteran members instructing the new members and the new members giving the veterans an infusion of new ideas and enthusiasm. Next time I will outline how we work out our task list and the creation of our budget and fee structure.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
