So we’re just under 66 hours until my Junior Riders teammates and I will kick off the 2010 version of the Quebec Junior Football League. I had a couple minutes of down time so I decided to take a kick at my first blog.
The QJFL has been in existence since 1908 providing an excellent football program for young men between the ages of 18 and 22. This year, an exception has gone through allowing each team in the Q the opportunity to have two 17 year olds active on their roster. Myself as well as one of my teammates have been given the opportunity to experience what one can only perceive as faster and stronger level of football.
Just like before the first game of any season, a wide range of emotions are running through me in preparation for my first QJFL game. There is the pure excitement and rush that comes along with the first game of a new season, as well as the nervousness that comes along with not quite knowing what to expect. Being 17 and playing with some guys that are undoubtedly bigger and faster is a challenge that I can’t wait to take on. Yeah, I really have no idea what to expect, but i’m not the first football player to be put in an unknowing situation. I have no idea how it will turn out, but i’m sure it will be one hell of a ride.
Thanks for reading. There will be more to follow. Please leave any comments or criticisms. I’d love to hear from you guys.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
