CFCs “Top 25” High School poll – Week 10 “New #1. More new faces”


CFCs weekly high school poll for 12-man (11-man in BC) football teams across the country from Antigonish, Nova Scotia to Victoria, British Columbia.

The poll will include teams from all 8 high school playing provinces (PEI & Newfoundland do not play high school tackle football).

1 (5) Terry Fox Ravens – Port Coquitlam, BC (5-0, 9-0)

Defeated (formerly CFC #6) W.J. Mouat 36 to 6 to Claim first place in Eastern conference AAA regular season play. Cam Canales (CFC top QBs winner) had a big game hitting Tanner White for a 75 yard scoring strike to open the scoring. He did not stop their, hitting Jared Soll on a 24 yard TD the next drive. Terry Fox ran 51 plays for 466 yards and 10 first downs, while Mouat ran 61 plays for 259 yards and 13 first downs. Canales finished the day with 93 yards rushing and 173 yards passing. Jacob Patko rushed 11 times for 133 yards. Have bye this weekend and await the winner of Notre Dame (West-4) vs. Salmon Arm (Okanagan-2) for first round playoff opponent.

2 (1) Raymond Comets – Raymond, AB (8-0)

Defeated L.C.I. (Lethbridge) for the second time this season to claim yet another league championship. Final score was 30 to 0. Play Bishop O’Byrne (Calgary runner up) on Nov 13 at Shouldice Park in Tier 1 regional semi-finals.

3 (2) CollΓ¨ge Notre-Dame Cactus – Montreal (10-0)

As expected defeated Externat St-Jean-Eudes in Sunday afternoon game 60 to 28. Now play CFC #17 Γ‰. sec. CurΓ©-Antoine-Labelle les Loups in the Juvenile AAA Division 1 final friday night at Coulter Field in Lennoxville. Rematch of Oct 9th regular season game when the Cactus visited Laval and put a whopping on Les Loups 51 to 13. Les Loups are defending champs.

4 (3) Herman Griffins – Windsor, ON (7-0)

Defeated Villanova 26 to 7 in the Windsor region finals. Now play Northern Vikings (Sarnia – CFC ‘HM’), the Lambton Kent winner, in SWOSSAA final friday or saturday. Winner plays London / St. Thomas champ for ticket to Western Bowl.

5 (4) Aden Bowman Bears – Saskatoon – (9-0)

Defeated Walter Murray in Saskatoon 4A semi-finals 22 to 0. Play Centennial in the Saskatoon finals. It is a rematch of a tightly contested 18 to 17 regular season win by the Bears.

6 (8) St. Andrew’s – Aurora, ON (9-0)

Defeated a good Villanova team 59 to 0 in CISSA semi-final action. Play Upper Canada College Wednesday for league championship. If they win they play the Durham (LOSSA) champion in the semi-finals of the METRO BOWL on Thursday November 18th at Esther Shriner Stadium.

7 (NC) Citadel Phoenix – Halifax (8-0)

Defeated JL isley Sunday in make up of week one action 81-30. DB Will Zed (Team Nova Scotia) had 12 solos, 1 sack, and an INT for a TD. Fullback Keiith graham had 5 carries for 120 yards and a receiving touchdown. Running back Dechaun Beals had 250 all purpose yards, 1 rush TD, and 1 receiving TD. Receiver Derek Brown had a rushing TD. Jesse Mills (CFC QB award winner) was 17 of 19 for 349 yards, 5 TD passes, to Alex Smith, Adre Fraser, Kyle Frost, Dechaun Beals, Keith Graham. The play Central Kings in quarter final action this week.

8 (9) St. Paul’s Crusaders – Winnipeg (9-0)

Crushed the Vincent Massey Trojans 40-0 in a Winnipeg High School Football AAA semifinal at Canad Inns Stadium on Thursday night. Crusaders quarterback Theo Deezar completed two TD tosses of 12 yards and another one of six to Rhys Hansen. The Crusaders will defend their title against the Oak Park Raiders, who ravaged the Chuchill Bulldogs 45-8 in Thursday’s other semifinal, in the ANAVETS Bowl final at Canad Inns Stadium next Friday at 7:30 p.m.

9 (11) Lakeshore Gators – Port Colborne, ON (9-0)

Defeated St. Paul Patriots 21 to 3 in the Niagara Golden Horseshoe bid (learn from this system Waterloo county). Play Sir Allan MacNab CFC #15 in Golden Horseshoe (SOSSA) playdowns thursday at McMaster 12 noon.

10 (13) Huron Heights Warriors- Newmarket, ON (7-0)

Defeated Brother Andre 38 to 7 in York Region Semi-Finals. Play King City in York Region finals on Saturday 3:30 Esther Shriner. QB Troy McCusker continues his great play and may be the best QB in the Metro playdowns.

11 (16) Vancouver College – Vancouver (5-0, 8-2)

Closed out the regular season on friday against Notre Dame in the annual Archbishop’s trophy game, this time at Empire Fields. Came away with 27 to 6 victory dominating from beginning to end. Sean Mayzes (Team BC) had a strong game with a touchdown and interception. Have bye this weekend and await winner of New Westminster (West-East-5) vs. St. Thomas More (East-3) for first round playoff match up.

12 (15) Resurrection Phoenix- Kitchener, ON (7-0)

Defeated a solid Waterloo collegiate team 35 to 6. Jeff Rodriques, Steve Fedy, Tyler Schneider, Jason Chris , and Ryan Snider all scored touchdowns.

13 (18) Holy Trinity Titans – Oakville, ON (7-0)

Defeated MM Robinson in Halton Semi-Finals 27 to 15. Now play Notre Dame (defending Golden Horseshoe champs) in a battle of the undefeated teams in Halton.

14 (19) Notre Dame Pride – Calgary (8-0)

Defeated Henry Wise Wood 36 to 13 in Calgary semi-finals. Then defeated Bishop O’Byrne in Calgary finals 13 to 0. Gino Flaviano had a huge day picking off 3 O’Byrne passes on the day. This is the prides second straight city championship. Lone touchdown on the day was caught by Xavier Savery from Jimmy Underdahl. While this is O’Byrne second year in a row losing to Notre Dame in the finals, not is all lost, as they play Raymond on Nov 13 at Shouldice Park in Tier 1 regional semi-finals. Notre Dame will play Jasper Place at Encana Field.

15 (20) Sir Allan MacNabb Lions – Hamilton, ON (9-0)

Defeated Orchard Park this week in Hamilton public finals 32 to 7. Kris Burch scored on an reverse play on the opening kick off. Mark Duckett scored 3 touchdowns and MacNab quarterback Chuck Wall tossed a 14-yard touchdown pass to Mike Hayes. Play Lakeshore Gators CFC #10 in Golden Horseshoe (SOSSA) playdowns thursday at McMaster 12 noon.

16 (6) W.J. Mouat Hawks – Abbotsford, B.C. – (4-1, 8-1)

Lost to CFC #1 Terry Fox Ravens 36 to 6. Terry Fox ran 51 plays for 466 yards and 10 first downs, while Mouat ran 61 plays for 259 yards and 13 first downs. Have bye this weekend and awaits winner of South Kamloops (Okanagan-3) vs. Carson Graham (West-3) for first round playoff opponent.

17 (14) Γ‰. sec. CurΓ©-Antoine-Labelle les Loups – Laval, QC – (10-1)

Defeated the CFC ‘HM’ SΓ©minaire Saint-FranΓ§ois Blizzard 35 to 28 in a great semi-final match up in quebec juvenile AAA division 1 play. The defending champs are looking to avenge and early season loss versus CFC #3 CollΓ¨ge Notre-Dame Cactus. Final is friday night at Coulter Field.

18 (17) Harry Ainlay Titans – Edmonton (8-0)

Defeated Jasper Park in the ‘Edmonton Public Bright Conference Championship’ 41 to 11. Play Bev Facey (CFC ‘HM’) in Tier 1 playdowns this week.

19 (23) Notre Dame – Burlington (7-0)

Defeated Nelson (CFC ‘HM’) 31 to 18 in Halton Semi-Final action. Play fellow Halton undefeated Holy Trinity in the Halton finals.

20 (25) Donald A. Wilson Gators – Whitby, ON (6-0, 7-1)

Defeated Holy Trinity (former CFC top 25) 25 to 21 at home in final Durham regular season action. Wilson was paced by a 2 touchdown performance by Greg Morris and one by George Papadakos. Trinity countered with touchdown scores by Svend Tamburro, Earl Anderson, and Tyler Ganhao. Cannot wait for the potential playoff rematch. Play Pickering in Durham (LOSSA) semi-finals at home tuesday.

21 (NC) Bernice MacNaughtan Highlanders- Moncton, NB (8-0)

Defeated Oromocto in the New Brunswick semi-finals saturday at Rocky Stone. Sets up a match up we have been anticipating and looking forward too. The Fredericton Black Kats (CFC ‘HM’) and the undefeated Highlanders. CFC cannot wait to see who is the best in New Brunswick. Game time is this saturday, 3:00 pm, at Rocky Stone for the ‘Ed Skiffington Trophy’.

22 (NR) St. Thomas Aquinas – London, ON (7-0)

Defeated Oakridge 24 to 8 in Thames Valley (London) semi-finals. Face Catholic Central in London final. Winner plays the winner the St. Thomas winner. Winner of that game plays Windsor vs. Lambton / Kent game (Herman / Northern) for chance at Western Bowl appearance.

23 (NR) Centennial Chargers- Saskatoon (8-1)

Beat Holy Cross in Saskatoon semi-finals 29 to 15. Play CFC #5 Aden Bowman in rematch of 18 to 17 regular season loss in the Saskatoon 4A Finals. Can’t wait.

24 (NC) Oak Park Raiders – Winnipeg (8-1)

Defeated the Chuchill Bulldogs 45-8 in Thursday’s Winnipeg semifinal. Play St. Paul’s in the ANAVETS Bowl final at Canad Inns Stadium next Friday at 7:30 p.m. Oak Park’s Travis Noble opened the scoring when he returned an interception 51 yards for a TD. Running back Mario Cianflone added a nine-yard touchdown run and fullback Mitch Pisecki added a six-yard major. The Bulldogs scored a TD on the last play of the game and added a two-point convert.

25 (NR) Cardinal Newman Cardinals – Hamilton (5-1)

Had quarter final bye. Play Bishop Ryan Celtics in the semi’s on tuesday at Ivor Wynne stadium.

Kelowna Owls – Kelowna, BC (5-0, 9-1)
Shut out Rutland 35 to 0. Game was called early due to some ‘animosity’ between the two teams. Taylor Loffler (CFC top players winner) returned from injury and was his brilliant self running for 2 TDs, passing for 2, and returning a punt 70 yards for a TD. Have bye this week and await winner of Mt. Douglas (West-2) vs. Centennial (East-4) for first round playoff match up.

Alberta

Defeated Winston Knoll 18 to 14 in Regina Intercollegiate Football League Schwann Conference semifinal. Geoff Hughes (Team Saskatchewan) had seven defensive tackles, two quarterback sacks and a pass deflection. Connor Bloom rushed for a game-high 109 yards on 15 carries in addition to catching two passes for 17 yards

Defeated the Riffel Royals 21-14 in Regina Intercollegiate Football League Schwann Conference semifinal

West Ferris Trojans won the NDA senior football championship Saturday afternoon by coming from behind to beat the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears 28-24
Smith Falls – Smith Falls (9-0)
Defeated Almonte in Lanark-Renfrew semi-finals. Host Arnprior in finals on Wednesday
Superior Heights – Sault Ste Marie (4-3)
After being ranked in the CFC Top 25 in week one, some early season mishaps had them on the outside looking in. But a late resurgence, and a Sault championship victory over St. Basil Saints 14-10 and they are back, barely. A championship team at 4 and 3, CFC is confused why fans are complaining about no SSM team in the ‘top 25’?
Nelson Lords – Burlington (5-2) – SEASON OVER
Lost in Halton Semi-Finals to Notre Dame (CFC #19) 31 to 18. Other loss on year was one point loss to Holy Trinity (CFC #13)
Chaminade – Toronto (6-1) – SEASON OVER
Lost to Richview in Toronto semi-finals, much earlier then they expected

Quebec
SΓ©minaire Saint-FranΓ§ois Blizzard – Saint-Augustin, Quebec – (8-3) – SEASON OVER
Traveled to Laval to play Γ‰. sec. CurΓ©-Antoine-Labelle les Loups, in a rematch of October 1st game where Les Loups won 27 to 18. The outcome was the same this time the Blizzard lost 35 to 28. The Blizzard’s only loss were to CFC top 25 teams.

New Brunswick
Fredericton Black Kats – Fredericton (8-1)
Defeated Harrison Trimble 48 to 13 in New Brunswick semi-final. The Kats totaled 292 yards on the ground and 203 through the air. Play for the Ed Skiffington Trophy (New Brunswick provincial 12-man championship) at Rocky Stone Saturday 3:00pm against MacNaughton

Nova Scotia
C.P. Allen Cheetahs – Bedford (7-1)
Defeated Cobequid 27 to 6 to clinch first place in the Scotia Division of the NSSAF league. Stephen Crossland ran for 138 years and one touchdown to lead the Cheetahs, Collin Sweeney added two rushing TDs and Dustin MacCallum one for the Cheetahs, 7-1. Crossland eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark, finishing the regular season with 1,019 rushing yards

4) All leagues go to grade 12 except for quebec which are grade 10’s and 11’s. Some provinces allow grade 13 players to play and some do not. Some provinces limit the total amount of years you can participate in high school football (i.e. Nova Scotia has 3 year maximum).
5) List is compiled by CFC high school ranking group. We are a group of 12 people from across Canada. 1 in each western province, 1 in atlantic canada, 2 in quebec and 5 from Ontario. We may add more members as the year progresses.
