COACHING EXPERIENCE
Modkins enters his second season with the Buffalo Bills in 2011. In 2010, Modkins guided the teamβs offensive attack. Buffalo was one of five AFC teams with a 3,000-yard passer and two players with 1,000 scrimmage yards (Stevie Johnson and Fred Jackson). Below is a list of other highlights from the Bills offense in 2010 β¦
Buffaloβs 4.3 rushing yards per carry average ranked tied for sixth in the AFC
Jackson produced a career-best seven touchdowns (five rushing)
Rookie CJ Spiller ranked third among NFL rookies with 1,629 yards (283 rushing, 157 receiving, 1,014 kick return)
Prior to joining the Bills, Modkins spent the 2009 season leading the Arizona Cardinals rushing attack to one of their most productive seasons in recent memory. Below is a list of some statistical highlights achieved by Arizonaβs rushing offense under Modkins:
1,494 rushing yards were the most the team has produced since 2004.
4.1 rushing yards per carry average was the highest since 2002.
16 rushing touchdowns ranked fifth in the NFC and produced the teamβs highest total since 1984 (21).
Rookie RB Beanie Wells tied for first among rookies with seven rushing touchdowns and ranked second among rookies with 793 rushing yards. Also averaged 4.5 yards per carry to rank third among rookies
Wells was selected to the all-rookie team by a number of national publications
Prior to breaking into the NFL as a running backs coach in 2008 with the Kansas City Chiefs, Modkins was named offensive coordinator at Colorado State but left shortly after for the opportunity in the NFL.
From 2002-07, he worked at Georgia Tech coaching defensive backs in 2002 and running backs from 2003- 07. Below are a list of statistical highlights from his time at Georgia Tech:
Rushing offense led the ACC with 2,591 rushing yards (199.3 per game) and 28 touchdowns
RB P.J. Daniels (2003) and Tashard Choice (2006-07) led the ACC in rushing under Modkins tutelage. Both players developed into fourth-round NFL draft picks β Daniels 132nd overall to Baltimore in 2006 and Choice 122nd overall in 2008 to Dallas.
Modkins enjoyed a successful four-year tenure at New Mexico from 1998-2001 as the cornerbacks coach.
New Mexicoβs defense ranked in the top 20 nationally in 2000 and 2001
The team posted 15 interceptions in both 2000 and 2001 seasons
He started his coaching career at his alma mater TCU, where he served as a graduate assistant in 1995; secondary coach in 1996; tight ends coach in 1997.
Modkins interned in the NFL on three different occasions through the NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship program.

Modkins was a three-year starter for TCU and a led the Horned Frogs in rushing from 1990-92. β¦ Finished his career third on the schoolβs all-time rushing list with 2,763 yards and was twice named second team all- Southwest Conference β¦ Earned a bachelorβs degree in criminal justice in 1993 and earned his M.L.A. degree in 1997 β¦ he and his wife, Kristi, have four children β Ciera, Jett, Mariah and Dash.
