2010 Desjardins Vanier Cup: CIS All-Canadian Banquet

QUEBEC – After an incredible success in 2009 with over 1000 guests, the CIS All-Canadians Banquet, presented by Mallette, is back for a second consecutive year on Thursday, November 25, at the Québec City Convention Centre.

Christian Côté, Associate at Mallette and member of the Rouge et Or football club’s Board of Directors, is once again spearheading the coordination of the evening and is expected to offer an event even better than that of last year. Corporations, businesspeople, and the public now have the possibility to reserve a table for ten at a cost of $1500 or individual tickets for $160 each. For more information or to make a reservation, please contact Nathalie Desprès at (418) 653-4455 extension 562.

Those who reserve a table will be admissible to win a two night package at Loews Hotel Regency in New York, including two tickets to a NFL game to see the New York Giants. The draw will take place during the gala at the Convention Centre.

This major awards ceremony is one of many activities surrounding the 2010 Desjardins Vanier Cup. Both championship teams coming from the Uteck and Mitchell Cups as well as players selected as 1st and 2nd team All-Canadians will be attending the long awaited event.

Members of the All-Canadians’ offensive and defensive teams, recipient of the J.P. Metras Trophy for the Outstanding Down Lineman, recipient of the Russ Jackson Award for the Outstanding Student-Athlete, recipient of the Presidents’ Trophy for the Defensive Player of the Year, recipient of the Peter Gorman Trophy for the Rookie of the Year, and recipient of the Hec Crighton Trophy for the CIS Player of the Year will all be honoured in the course of the evening.
The technical aspects of last year’s gala were particularity impressive, notably the giant screen. With an extra year of experience under their belt, the organizing committee will be adding new features.

Coach of the Year Breakfast
Friday morning, the local community is also invited to attend another awards ceremony: the Coach of the Year Breakfast, a gastronomic buffet where the 2010-2011 CIS Head-Coach of the Year and other honorific prizes, such as the Gino Fracas Award to the Volunteer Assistant Coach of the Year for amateur football, will be unveiled.

More than 200 people attended in 2009 and more are expected for this year’s breakfast, which will be held in the Ballroom of the Hotel Loews Le Concorde at 8:30am. Please contact Nathalie Després for more information or to make a reservation. Tickets are $50.
