The BC Senior Bowl is back this week for its 2015 edition.
CanadaFootballChat.com has a special preview of this thrilling five-day event that provides BC high school players looking for post-secondary opportunities with great exposure and opportunities.
March 17 to 20 will see players taking part in seven intense practices at the BC Lions Training Facility in Surrey, along with workshops, meetings, and lectures.
March 17 will see a welcome to players and coaching staff by BC Lions head coach Jeff Tedford and legendary former BC Lions head coach Wally Buono. Thursday, March 19 will especially exciting for players as BC Lions players Dean Valli, Travis Lulay, Matt McGarva, Jason Arakgi, Casey Chin, and Cody Husband will act as Visiting Coaches for a “Practice with the Pros.”
The rigorous focus on training has increased even from last year’s camp, seeing an increase to five trainers, up from last year’s two, in addition to participating BC Lions staff.
This year’s game will take place on Saturday, March 22 at McLeod Athletic Park in Langley. The game is open to the public and admission is free.
Attendance at the annual camp hosted at the BC Lions Training Facility in Surrey is by invitation only. Invitations are extended automatically to graduating grade twelve players who were named 2014 BC High School Football Provincial All-Stars, selected to the 2015 Star Bowl team or a member of the 2015 under-18 Team BC.
Other invitees are players selected from among the hundreds of hopefuls who attended one of the five provincial evaluations held at locations throughout British Columbia. One hundred players will make up the final Senior Bowl roster.
NOTES:
- The BC Senior Bowl Camp runs during BC’s spring break March 17-20, with the final game between East (Fraser Valley & Interior) and West (Vancouver Island & Lower Mainland) teams taking place on Saturday, March 21 at Langley’s McLeod Athletic Park (58th Avenue & 214th Street).
- Highlights will include a Football Training Workshop by Game Ready on Tuesday, March 17; a “Practice with the Pros” with guest coaches Travis Lulay (quarterback), Dean Valli (offensive lineman), Matt McGarva (defensive back), Jason Arakgi (linebacker), Casey Chin (linebacker), and Cody Husband (offensive lineman) of the BC Lions on Thursday, March 19; “Football for Life” presentation to encourage all players to pursue their and an awards ceremony immediately following Saturday’s game (approximately 3 pm).
- The BC Senior Bowl seeks to extend Football BC’s mission into players’ post-secondary lives, and encourage promising high school players to continue their football careers whether in Midget, Junior, or University football.
- Dino Geremia and Football BC would like to extend a special thanks to the BC Lions coaching and operations staff for hosting the BC Senior Bowl Camp.
- Game Day is Saturday, March 21 at McLeod Athletic Park, Langley, with kick off at 11 a.m. The game is open to the public and admission is free.
