The 2025 CFC Prospect Game on TSN promised a national spotlight, two CFL legends, and 75 of the best high school football players in Canada, but what it delivered was something even better.
A fourth-quarter thriller that nearly broke the scoreboard at Hamilton Stadium.
CFC PROSPECT GAME ROSTERS

In the milestone fifth edition of the annual showcase, Team Stegall survived a furious rally to edge Team Sanchez 28β27 in the wildest finish in CFC Prospect Game history.
With CFL Hall of Famer Milt Stegall and Grey Cup champion Davis Sanchez leading their respective squads, the night started all Stegall. QB Kaden Barnstable opened the scoring with a strike to WR Ben McAuley in the first quarter. RB Rayhann Dare followed up with a physical touchdown run in the second, and then QB Brandon Bailey found McAuley again for his second score of the half. By the time K/P Thatcher Manuel knocked through a field goal to close the quarter, Team Stegall held a commanding 22β6 lead.
Team Sanchez stayed within armβs reach thanks to a second-quarter touchdown connection between QB Jacob Muller and wonderkid grade nine WR Jason Dorel Onana, who made a circus catch to breathe some life into the Team Sanchez sidelines. But when Sam Preston drilled a third-quarter field goal to stretch the lead to 25β6, it felt like Team Stegall had the game locked down.
Thatβs when the chaos started.

It began with a momentum-shifting interception by Team Sanchez defensive back Christian Zappavigna in the red zone late in the third quarter. From that moment on, the comeback was on. Muller took control in the fourth, rushing for two touchdowns including the game-tying score with just minutes remaining to bring his squad within striking distance. He finished with 271 yards and a touchdown through the air on 16-of-25 passing, and added 83 yards and two scores on the ground.
But just as it looked like the tide had fully turned, Team Stegall punched back. Preston calmly nailed his second field goal of the night to retake the lead 28β26 with just 17 seconds left on the clock. It looked like they finally sealed the victory, but then came a final surge from Team Sanchez. Muller moved the ball into striking range with a sideline completion to Keaton Belsher, aided by a roughing the passer penalty. The potential game-winner was lined up, but the field goal attempt sailed just wide securing a dramatic 28β27 victory for Team Stegall.

The night also featured some standout defensive efforts that helped shape the story. Team Sanchez linebacker Jake Mitchell recorded an interception and forced a fumble that was recovered by teammate Maxym Sugoniako. On the Stegall side, linebacker Logan Woosley knocked the ball loose for a fumble recovery by defensive back Renne Jackson. Defensive end Colton Shaw pounced on a fumble during the opening kickoff of the second half, while Team Sanchez DE Khalil Felix and DE Jake Stadler, and Team Stegall DT Ayden Smallwood each recorded sacks in a game filled with physical play.
In a game full of fireworks, it was only fitting that MVP honors were split between impact players on both sides. Team Stegall recognized QB Brandon Bailey, WR Ben McAuley, and LB Logan Woosley. Team Sanchez awarded QB Jacob Muller, WR Jason Dorel Onana, and LB Jake Mitchell for their leadership during the furious second-half rally.
Five years in, the CFC Prospect Game on TSN continues to be the premier showcase for Canadian high school talent. And after a finish like that, year six already has a lot to live up to.
