2025 CFC25 Small School RANKINGS: Three new Ontario programs make their debut

TOP HEADLINES

  • We start this week out with sending our condolences to all the players and coaches who’ve been forced to the sidelines due to the Alberta teacher’s strike. School Sport Alberta has set a hard deadline for November 4th, and if the strike continues past this date then the provincial playoffs will be cancelled. Here’s to hoping the Alberta Teachers’ Association can come to an agreement ASAP so we can get teams back on the field in Alberta before we reach the point of no return.

  • Tight games, close calls and upsets were the themes of the week across the board. Our top ranked program Dalbe-Viau were no exception escaping a trap game against winless College Laval with the 25-21 victory. The same can be said for St-Jean-Vianney, who squeezed by Deux-Montagnes for a 13-6 win. This week might serve as a wake-up call that you can’t overlook anybody in Quebec DII, and nobody is going to roll out the red carpet on their way to the Bol d’Or.
  • It was an interesting week in Saskatchewan as well where the margins are starting to tighten as we inch closer to the playoffs. Aden Bowman gave Bishop J. Mahoney everything they could handle on defence, but unfortunately couldn’t find a way to take advantage on offence with the Saints holding on for a 14-6 victory. Then the shocker of the week was Greenall falling to Swift Current 30-24, which now means that the Colts jump into the second seed behind Central in the South Rural League.

CFC100 CLASS 2026 RANKINGS

  • The race in the Manitoba AAA Conference is heating up with Churchill leaping back onto the rankings after a key 53-20 victory over St. John’s, while on the flipside, Dryden falls off the list after a tough 21-0 loss to St. Norbert. This leaves us with a logjam at the top of the standings headed by Fort Frances at 6-0, Churchill at 5-1, and then John Taylor and Dryden sitting at 4-2. Then you can throw St. Norbert at 3-3 into the mix, and the playoff picture is looking extra spicy heading into the final week of the regular season.
  • We always need to wait for Ontario schools to catch-up and sort themselves out before the cream can rise to the top, but we believe we’ve found some worthy candidates who deserve to call themselves a top 25 program. North Star has been putting on a clinic in WECSSAA Tier II outscoring their first four opponents 166-0. Ingersoll have battled their way to the top of the Williamson Division in Thames Valley with a 4-0 record, but they’ll need to be on high alert for their final regular season matchup against Saunders, who also remains unbeaten. Lastly we’ve added Sherwood out of the Hamilton Public Tier II league, who has run the table so far with little resistance with a 29.5 average margin of victory across four games.
