22 days to go: IFAF Senior World Championship Offensive Record Books…

The IFAF Senior World Championship brings together the best American Football players from around the world all competing for the same coveted gold medal.

Currently Japan holds two gold medals winning back to back titles in 1999 and 2003 and the United States enters the tournament as defending champions winning the 2007 IFAF Senior World Championship in Kawasaki, Japan.

With the best players on the field stellar performances are expected to occur, and the first three IFAF Senior World Championships did not disappoint.

Sweden’s Lars Gustafsson had superb performance at the first-ever IFAF Senior World Championship in 1999 and his name remains in the record book holding eight individual records – the most of any individual player including holding a record in most yards rushing in a game and tournament, most rushing touchdowns in a game and tournament, longest run from scrimmage and most attempts in game and tournament.

And Japan’s Ikunori Hanna holds the record for longest touchdown run with a 59-yard touchdown run recorded in the 2003 IFAF Championship game where Japan defeated Mexico for their second IFAF Senior World Championship title.

Overall, Japan holds the most records will an impressive twenty-five team and individual records followed by Mexico who has twenty records.

Take a look at some of the offensive individual records made at the IFAF Senior World Championship, which might well be broken in Austria this summer:
