3RD CFL COACH JOINS FCCA CONVENTION LINEUP (April 2 & 3) limited spaces left

The newly formed Football Canada Coaches Association (FCCA) is pleased to announce new Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach- Corey Chamblin as a speaker at the 2011 FCCA CONVENTION. Chamblin joins an impressive lineup which includes two CFL head coaches Greg Marshall (Saskatchewan) and Marcel Bellefeuille (Hamilton), former NFL assistant coach John Levra as well as a number of other highly knowledgeable and respected coaches from both the minor and high school ranks of Canada and the USA. The convention is being held April 2nd and 3rd in Burlington, Ontario at Corpus Christi High School.

Chamblin joins the Tiger-Cats coaching staff for the upcoming season after spending the previous three with the Calgary Stampeders as a defensive backs coach. Last season, the Stampeders defence surrendered the fewest yards per game (336.0), the second-fewest passing yards per game (261.7) and allowed their opponents to complete just 54.9% of their passes – the top mark in the CFL. Chamblin also helped propel the Stamps to a 2008 Grey Cup championship in which their defence did not surrender a touchdown pass to Anthony Calvillo. Prior his time in Calgary, Chamblin made his CFL debut in 2007 as Winnipeg’s defensive backs coach. During that season, the Bombers featured the second-best pass defence in the CFL (254.7 yards per game).

Chamblin’s coaching career began in 2005 as an assistant at Cumberland University (Tennessee) where his special teams unit was one of the best in the NAIA. He next landed a coaching internship with the NFL’s Washington Redskins in 2006. Chamblin also helped the Frankfurt Galaxy to an NFL Europe World Bowl championship during the 2006 season, serving as the team’s defensive assistant and secondary coach.

Chamblin’s path to coaching began following a successful playing career. After playing free safety at Tennessee Tech, Chamblin began his first six professional seasons in the NFL (1999- 2004) with the Ravens, Jaguars, Packers, Buccaneers, Broncos and Colts. His playing days also took him to NFL Europe where he was a member of the 2004 Rhein Fire.
