48th Vanier Cup to set attendance record

TORONTO– Canadian Interuniversity Sport, in partnership with MRX and the 100th Grey Cup festival, proudly announced on Thursday afternoon that a record number of fans have secured tickets for the 48th Vanier Cup championship at Rogers Centre.

Over 33,000 tickets have been confirmed for Friday’s much-anticipated rematch of last year’s CIS football final between the McMaster University Marauders and Laval University Rouge et Or.

The previous attendance record had stood since 1989, when 32 847 spectators were on hand for the first-ever Vanier Cup staged at Rogers Centre (then SkyDome). Due to overwhelming demand, Vanier Cup organizers had announced on Tuesday they were opening the East side of the 500 level.
