4TH QUARTER FLURRY GIVES CHEETAHS SHARE OF 1ST PLACE

QUARTERBACK JEREMI ROCH GUIDED THE CHEETAHS TO THREE FOURTH QUARTER TOUCHDOWNS AS THEY OVERCAME A 27-18 HALF-TIME DEFECIT TO OUTLAST THE CHAMPLAIN-LENNOXVILLE COUGARS 41-27 THIS PAST SATURDAY IN LENNOXVILLE.

The Cheetahs opened the scoring on the first play of the game as Josh MacDuffie booted a single on the game’s opening kickoff. The Cougars then tallied 14 straight points to take a commanding 14-1 second quarter lead.

Vanier stormed back to go ahead 18-14 as Matthew Norzil (right) hauled in a 16-yard pass from JΓ©rΓ©mi Roch at the 7:06 mark of the second period and MacDuffie booted his first of 5 converts on the day. Only 1:24 later, Roch scampered 1 yard into the endzone for a major score and MacDuffie added the extra point. Less than two minutes later, MacDuffie connected on a 28-yard field goal as the Cheetahs built a short-lived lead. The Cougars notched 13 points in the final two minutes of a wild second quarter to go into the locker room with the advantage.
After a relatively quite third quarter where the only scoring came on a Vanier safety, the fourth frame saw quarterback Roch led his team to an exciting come-from-behind win. Roch hooked up with Norzil on a 28-yard touchdown pass at the 6:20 mark to knot the score at 27-27. Then at 13:15 of the final quarter, Roch connected with Shayne Stinson on a 45-yard bomb for another major and a mere 25 seconds later, Jesse Lacle ran 29 yards to cross the goal line and secure the Cheetahs road triumph.
