7 Best Canadian Football Players of All Time

Β

The Canadian Football League (CFL) was inaugurated in 1958, but its history goes back to the mid-19th century. Many players come and go, some have made a tremendous impact and are still remembered after retirement because they broke records.Β

The list is not exhaustive, but it has some of the most accomplished CFL players. Some of them attracted attention and action in online Casinos in Canada.Β

Here are seven of the best CFL players in history:

Doug Flutie, QuarterbackΒ

Flutie played only eight seasons in the CFL, but he was arguably one of CFL’s best players.Β

He still holds the record for passing 6,619 in 1991. He played eight seasons in the National Football League.

Anthony Calvillo, Quarterback

Calvillo was the quarterback for Montreal Alouettes for 16 seasons until his retirement in 2013. He is the all leading pass leader in CFL with 73,412 yards and counting. He is also on the lead for the highest touchdowns. His record may not be surpassed. Calvillo has won three Grey Cups, and that is why he is at the top of the list.Β

George Reed, Running back

Reed played for Saskatchewan Roughriders for 13 seasons until the team retired his No. 34 Jersey. He holds the record for the second all-time touchdown with 137 after Calvillo. He once attained 268 yards in one game and is the all-time leader with 1,000 rushing yards, a record which might not be broken.Β

Milt Stegall, Receiver

Stegall is one of the most accomplished receivers for Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was the receiver for the Bombers between 1995 and 2008 with 15,153 yards. He also scored the most touchdowns in CFL history and crossed the end zone 147 times.Β

He started at the NFL at the beginning of his career; he did not get much success until he transitioned to CFL in 1995. He scored 23 touchdowns in one season, making him one of the most valuable players for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.Β

Damon Allen, Quarterback

Allen played for Edmonton Eskimos, Ottawa Rough Riders, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and three other teams. He is the second all-time passing yard lead in the CFL with 72,381 yards coming a close second to Calvillo. He played for 23 seasons with six teams, and he ranks third on the all-time CFL games played list. Damon Allen is one of the most well-known quarterbacks.Β

Ron Lancaster, Quarterback

Lancaster played for Ottawa Renegades and Saskatchewan Roughriders for 16 seasons. He is one of the most accomplished footballers with four Grey Cup rings. He is also fourth on the list for the all-time passing yards in CFL with 50,535.Β

Mike Pringle, Running Back

Pringle was considered one of the best CFL’s running backs ever. He played for Montreal Alouettes and Edmonton Eskimos.Β

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
