7 Quebec CIS recruits receive grants from Quebec’s Foundation of Academic Excellence

QuĆ©bec’s Foundation of Academic Excellence recently announced the names of the best academic student- athletes who have chosen to study and pursue their sporting careers in one of twelve Quebec universities, members Network of Quebec Student Sport (RSEQ).

Among the 33 recipients who will share a total of $ 133,000 include Lloyd Constant of Vanier Cheetahs, (Montreal Carabins), Maxime Drolet of FX Garneau (Laval Rouge et Or), Junior Luke of Vanier Cheetahs (Montreal Carabins), Sean Thomas Erlington of Vieux-Montreal (Montreal Carabins), Alex Hovington of Vieux-Montreal (Laval Rouge et Or), Felix Lechasseur of FX Garneau (Laval Rouge et Or) and Jean-Simon Roy of FX Garneau (Laval Rouge et Or)

These student-athletes have received these honours because they have achieved exceptional results on the collegiate scene last year and because they have made a significant impact on the Quebec university scene in their first year of competition.

“The student athleteā€™s decisive choice in their university future is based on academics and sports, so = it is important to take this decision very seriously,ā€ said Patricia Demers, director of scholarships and athlete support the Foundation for Athletic Excellence.Ā  ā€œAt the Foundation, we believe that student elite athletes who choose to stay in Quebec just aim, both in terms of pursuing their sporting goals on their way to a professional career.ā€

In addition to the 33 scholars from Quebec, four fellows Canadians not Quebec will each receive $ 3 000 for choosing a Quebec university to continue their studies and their sporting career.
