8th annual Weirs classic: CFC ranked teams win big

The 8th annual Weirs fall classic concluded yesterday with 5 games at Esther Shriner stadium in Toronto. 10 games, 20 teams, 8 regions competed in all. The regions competing included teams from peel, toronto, independents, york, simcoe, kawartha, waterloo and durham regions.

Head Coach Tony Chris brought the phoenix (2 time defending waterloo county champs) down the 401 to play in the weirs classic. Players that impressed were Glorian Ganza RB, Steve Fady FB, Jay Chris QB, Tyler Schneider REC, Dustin Quintinita DE, Brent Thorne OC, and Steve Cordle DE. GW Williams star performers included Kenton Gamble LB, Ryan Granger OL, and kicker Adrian Boulfon. TDs – Tyler Schneider, Glorian Ganza, Alex Doczi, Ryan Snider – 2pt converts – Jay Chris, Jeff Rodgreigias, Steve Fedy. GW FG Adrian Boulfon.

Barrie North (Georgian Bay) 0 – Huron Heights (York Region) 14

The junior warriors played a strong offensive ball control game. Star performers included Kaleb Scott QB, Josh Adjeyne RB and defensive player of the game Cody Murrell. Barrie north was paced by Ryan Murphy LB, Andrew Smart QB, Tyler Rowe RB/LB, and Tyler Adams DL. Hit of the game was by warriors Marcus Crossdale DB.

The senior warriors out lasted barrie north in the late game. A serious injury prolonged the match late into the night. We hope a quick recovery for the injured barrie north player. Warrior standouts included Troy McCusker QB, Mitch McCallum LB and J.J. Lam DB.
