Welcome back to CFC40 Draft Watch, where we look at upcoming draft-eligible Canadian football players across the collegiate and university landscape. Today we take a look at CFC100 Miami DL Akheem Mesidor, who hails from the nationβs capital and has a stronghold on the number one spot of the CFC40 CFL/NFL Draft Rankings.
Player Overview
Mesidor began his collegiate journey at West Virginia in 2020, where he wasted no time making his mark. As a true freshman, he led the Mountaineers with five sacks and earned Freshman All-American honours logging big minutes as a rotational defensive end. In the following 2021 season, Mesidor was used primarily as a nose tackle in WVUβs defence, stepping in as a full-time starter. Then, at 6β2, 270lbs, the star pass rusher posted 38 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 8 TFLs as a true sophomore. Shortly thereafter, Mesidor transferred to play for the Miami Hurricanes to test himself in the ACC.
