- The tides are continuing to shift in Quebec this season. Saint-Joseph have catapulted themselves into the top ten conversation after delivering the second straight loss to the reigning champions DalbΓ©-Viau by a score of 16-14 to keep their unbeaten record intact. Meanwhile Roger-Comtois are trying to solidify themselves as the team to beat atop the standings with their 35-14 victory over Deux-Montagnes to improve their record to 3-0. Creeping in the shadows is St-Jean-Vianney, who handed Triolet their first loss of the season in a high scoring 37-30 affair off the back of their statement win against DalbΓ©-Viau a week ago. It’s probably too early to go into must win mode, but you’ve gotta believe DalbΓ©-Viau will be desperate to get back into the win column this week with the opportunity to knock Roger-Comtois off their perch.

- After sending shockwaves throughout Alberta last week with their huge win over the reigning 5A provincial champions Ernest Manning, Bev Facey crashed back down to earth suffering a 43-8 loss at the hands of their bitter crosstown rivals Salisbury. Unfortunately the road doesn’t getting any easier with a league matchup against CFC50 2nd ranked Harry Ainlay this week, but there could be some benefits to getting their two toughest opponents out of the way early in the campaign. We’ve got our eyes locked in on their matchup with the current 4A title holders Austin O’Brien on September 26th, which will provide a great measuring stick for where the Falcons and the winless Crusaders stand in the 4A hierarchy heading into October. Another program to keep an eye on is W.H. Croxford, who announced themselves on the rankings in a big way with an explosive 66-24 win over Notre Dame (Red Deer). The Cavaliers dropped a close 27-21 contest to top ten ranked Cochrane in their season opener, and after responding with a pair of sterling victories against their local rival George McDougall and Notre Dame, it looks like the W.H. Croxford plan on heavily influencing the 4A provincial playoff bracket in November.
- We’ll keep this update from Saskatchewan short and sweet. Number one ranked Central show no signs of slowing down this season with another 37-0 shutout victory over Weyburn. They’ve now outscored their first two opponents 75-0, and at the moment it doesn’t look like anybody has the secret sauce to slow them down in the South Rural League. Swift Current would probably object to that statement sitting at 2-0, but we’ll have to wait until October 8th until we learn the answer. Elsewhere we’re excited to see the outcome of an early season heavyweight bout between Carlton and Bishop J. Mahoney this week.
CFC100 CLASS 2027 RANKINGS
- With the rebranding came the opportunity to include the Manitoba AAAA Tier II Gustafsson Division. It’s still early days, but we’ve currently got eyes on West Kildonan and Springfield as the teams to beat. They didn’t disappoint in their regular season openers with West Kildonan defeating Tec Voc 42-6, and Springfield breezing past Kelvin by a score of 36-8. It’ll be a fun league to follow this year with last year’s champions Elmwood vacating their spot to join the top division, so the field is wide open for a new king to be crowned.
