Canada goes for gold

Men’s gold medalist in 2008, Canada returns 6 of 12 team members hoping to build on a fourth place finish at the 2010 FFWC held in Ottawa, Ontario. Canada’s Women’s National Team captured gold in 2010 however the reigning champion will not defend their title in Sweden.

The 2012 men’s draw features 16 total teams split into two groups based on seeding while rounding out the groups are newcomers Kuwait, Switzerland, Panama, France and Norway who were added based on a random draw. Canada will face a tough road to the finals as their group includes 2010 world champion, Team USA and the host nation of Sweden. Group B features silver and bronze medalists from 2010 Denmark and Italy.

After two initial days of round-robin play on August 16 and 17, the top two teams in each group advance to Sunday morning’s semi-finals with the winners earning the chance to play for gold later that afternoon.
