Football in the province of Quebec is something that its spectators have come to love and appreciate. It is a game that young children love to play and want to become great.
With prestigious programs like the Laval Rouge et Or and Montreal Alouettes, kids watch and learn to love the game at a very young age. The province of Quebec gives their players to participate in the game of football by offering leagues for all levels in high school and also the CEGEP level. The CEGEP level is seen through Canada as what seperates high school football to the CIS. It also gives players in Quebec an opportunity to continue their careers if they make the choice to pursue a trade instead of University studies.
The province of Quebec have been among the top in the country when it comes to the sport of football and they once again expect to find themselves in the same situation in the football Canada Cup.
Team Quebec will once again have a good mix of veterans led by returning FCC all star Mathieu Betts, a defensive linemen who had a great tournament last year. They have also added some fresh faces completing the 2012 roster. The team is known to have great speed and will once again have an offense that can run the ball when needed and also can hurt opposing defences in the Air.
Team Quebec will be led by three strong Quarterbacks in Michael Arruda , Samuel Chenard and Frederic Paquette Perrault. All 3 of these young Quarterbacks have showed great leadership skills and have the capability’s to lead their province to victory. They all have great skill sets for their age and are good prospects to play at the next level. Quebec also has a speedy receiving corps as usual with weapons at slot and wide receiver. Quebec always has opposing defences on their toes as they never know if the ball will be kept on the ground or put in the air.
Quebec does have a young defence this year but they have been working hard. They are always known for having a quick and Physical defence who prides itself on turnovers.
There defensive backs have always been one of their strong points and we should expect to see the same thing come 2012. They always seem to have the tournaments best defensive backs year in year out. They are usually great on breaking up passes and not scared to help there Linebackers on the run.
Quebec will open the tournament against Team New Brunswick, making their first appearance at the Canada Cup since 2002. Facing a team with no experience could be to Quebec’s advantage if they use it right. however, not knowing the strategy’s of New Brunswick might also be a difficult thing to adapt to.
Either way, their game against New Brunswick will be a good test on how they adapt to new things and they will see how they have came together as a team. Quebec is the favorite as defending champions and do have the dept on the roster to repeat as champions.
That being said, the experience of team Quebec should leave New Brunswick with their hands full come game time.
