40 Football Canada Cup participants to take on Team USA at International Bowl
Football Canada is proud to announce its Under-18 Football Canada Cup National Team which will take on USA Footballβs U18 National Team as part of the 2014 International Bowl series, to be playedΒ February 7-8Β at Maverick Stadium at the University of Texas at Arlington. The team is comprised of players born in the years 1996 and 1997 who participated in the 2013 Football Canada Cup, heldΒ July 15-21Β in Moncton, New Brunswick.
Among the 40 players on Canadaβs U18 squad, 25 earned automatic invitations to participate in the International Bowl after being named 2013 Canada Cup all-stars. An additional 14 Canada Cup standouts have also accepted invitations to take on Team USA.
The Football Canada Cup National Team is led by Quebec head coach,Β Brad CollinsonΒ who will serve the same role in Arlington. Under coach Collinsonβs leadership, Quebec has won 3 consecutive Canada Cup titles, the last two as the teamβs head coach. Currently an assistant coach with the Laval Rouge et Or, Collinson will also serve as an assistant with the Junior National Team in 2014.
Junior National Team to join U18βs at International Bowl
The Football Canada Cup National Team will be joined in Arlington by the top Junior National Team prospects chosen from identification camps heldΒ November 30-December 21Β across Canada. These top prospects will take on USA Footballβs U19 squad, competing for a chance to represent Canada at the 2014 IFAF U19 (19-and-under) World Championship in Kuwait.
Rounding out the U18 squad isΒ Adam Auclair, a defensive back from Notre-Dame-de-Pins who participated with Team Quebec in 2013. Auclair replaces Canada Cup all-star Jordan Rae who is unable to compete due to injury.
