JΓ©rΓ©mie began playing football when he was in high school.Β He spent five seasons playing football for St. Joseph’s Vert et Or.Β Subsequent to that, the Quebec offensive lineman decided to follow in his family’s footsteps by suiting up for CEGEP’s Trois Rivieres Diablos.
“My decision wasn’t that hard because my father and my uncle played for the Diablos,” explains JΓ©rΓ©mie, who just completed his third year with the team. “It is a tradition for us.”
“In my first year, I was a starter which quickly gave me college experience.”
During his time with the Diablos, he experienced a special yet surreal moment with the team.Β It was in the 2012 CEGEP quarterfinals against the Geants of Sir Jean-sur-Richeleau.
“Sports analysts believed that we were going to lose,” comments the offensive lineman.Β “We started the game really by scoring the first touchdown.”
“At the half time, we were leading 21-7.Β We continued to work hard and it paid off. We won the game 24-21.Β It was my first win in playoff since high school!”
This upcoming January, the standout will move on to play university football for the Sherbrooke Vert et Or.Β The football program and academic opportunities the school presented were the main reasons JΓ©rΓ©mie chose to commit there.
“I choose this University because I believe it is best in my field of study, which is civil engineering,” says the offensive lineman.Β “With a great coaching staff and an outstanding workout program, I believe that I will progress and have a great career with the Vert et Or.”
The key to JΓ©rΓ©mie’s ability to accomplish so many football feats is due to the many coaches who’ve spent time developing and instructing him into becoming the player he is today on the field.
“They taught me everything,” adds JΓ©rΓ©mie. “I’m working with them all year long because playing football is something that never stops.”
“When the season is over, the next season start right now with the training. They are always teaching me something.”
However, being able to play football or pursue life endeavours would not be possible without the advice and encouragement of his parents.
“They will always be there for me, no matter what,” comments JΓ©rΓ©mie. “They’ve followed me during my entire career.”
They know who I am, so if I have a tough decision to make, I know they can really help by asking me the right questions in order to make the right decision.”
When he attends Sherbrooke, the student athlete will enroll in the co-op program.Β Ultimately, he would like to create new building materials such as fibre cement.
Whether it is realizing future gridiron dreams or achieving life goals, the offensive lineman will continue to use the recipe that’s guided him to success.
“Always give 100 percent because you don’t know what could happen,” says JΓ©rΓ©mie. “It’s the only way to get the feeling of satisfaction.”
