OFA Announces 2013 Team Ontario Coordinators

 

Guelph, Ontario : Continuing on the coaching staff announcements for the 2013 Team Ontario for the Canada Cup this July 15^th-21^st in Moncton, New Brunswick, the OFA is pleased to officially name Chris Bertoia (Western) as the Offensive Coordinator, Ryan Bechmanis (Carleton) as Defensive Coordinator, and Bill Brown (Guelph) as Special Teams Coordinator.  We will announce the Positional Coaches for Team Ontario early in the New Year. 

Chris Bertoia is currently the recruiting coordinator and offensive line coach for the Western Mustangs.  This past summer, Bertoia was the OVFL Coach of the Year as head coach of the London Jr. Mustangs that went undefeated, winning the OVFL Championship in the team’s inaugural season.  Bertoia was the offensive line coach for Team Ontario West in 2010 and was the offensive coordinator last year for Ontario West.  Bertoia’s tireless work ethic and dedication to his players and preparation are invaluable assets to this year’s offense.

Ryan Bechmanis is currently the defensive coordinator for the Carleton Ravens who are set to begin competition in the OUA in 2013.  Previously to joining the Ravens, Bechmanis was the special teams coordinator and defensive back coach at Queens University for the Gaels where in 2009, Queens won the Vanier Cup.  Bechmanis has coached with Team Ontario in various capacities since 2007 and was last year’s Ontario East defensive coordinator.  Bechmanis’ experience and ability to put his players in a position to be successful bode well for this year’s defense.

Bill Brown is currently the Special Forces Coordinator and Director of Recruiting & Football Development for the Guelph Gryphons.  The Gryphons had a breakout year in 2012, making it to the Yates Cup for the first time since 2007.  Brown has coached the special teams for Ontario West since 2010 and is poised for a successful 2013 campaign.  Brown’s game planning and ability to motivate his players are key attributes sure to bolster a successful special teams squad in 2013.
