In recent years, the quality of football players in Quebec has reached a standard of international recognition. On July 10, at the 2016 IFAF U19 World Championship held in China, composed of 16 Quebecers, the Junior National Team defeated the United States 24 β 6 in the gold medal game.
Of these 16 athletes, a young 16 year old made the trip. Charles-Γmile Bouchard, who committed to the CollΓ¨ge Notre-Dame-de-Foy for the up-coming season, played his high-school football in a small town named St-FΓ©liciens, in the Saguenay region.
Thanks to Kevin Tremblay, his former head-coach of the Centurions, Charles-Γmile was able to pursue his passion and get recognized as a national prospect. The motivated athlete took matters in his own hands and invested many hours in his physical preparation, which paid off when he got selected for the Junior National Team.
All the efforts and the discipline needed to reach the podium, were rewarded with a Gold in China. It was an extremely life changing experience in all aspects of the game. The schemes, the speed, the coaches involved and most of all, the friendships. The support from his family, his friends and the community, empowered Charles-Γmile to strive through the grind, and he is very grateful.
Heading towards the law enforcement field, Charles-Γmile is set on continuing his physical preparation with the objective to play his first year at CNDF and follow the footsteps of many, playing at the university level.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
