The menacing six-foot-two, 205-pound linebacker was a star pupil on the U Sports trail gaining offers from Alberta, Regina, Guelph and local Calgary, but was drawn to Acadia’s program from the moment he arrived on campus,
“Acadia had a different atmosphere compared to any other school I visited or considered,” says Zannis.
“The town was heartwarming and special to me. It was a place that I felt was already home, even though I was only there for a short period of time.”
Zannis was named MVP and Athlete of the Year at Crescent Heights, won the Tom Cheney Award for Top Junior Player in Calgary, and was also named MVP for the Calgary Rebels. He registered 70 tackles and a pair of defensive touchdowns during the high school season in 2017, then followed up with 50 plus tackles in the spring while playing for the Rebels in 2018.
