The Holland College Hurricanes will be in Halifax this Saturday to play the Dalhousie University Tigers in Atlantic Football League regular season action. Both teams are coming off non-league losses last weekend and are anxious to record a win. The Tigers were beaten 34-7 by Acadia University JV, while the Hurricanes were edged 24-20 by Husson University JV Eagles in Maine.
Hurricanes Head Coach Mark MacDougall says that a key to the game will be the play of his offensive line: “On paper, we have a size advantage, but that doesn’t win games — we really have to assert ourselves on the field this weekend. I am looking to our big O-line guys to turn up the intensity.”
The Canes will also need another big game from quarterback Nick Hunsley, who earned the APM Construction Services Offensive Player of the Game for his strong performance in Maine last weekend. The second-year signal caller from Sir John A. Macdonald High School in Halifax is looking forward to returning home to play against the Tigers. “Definitely, being at home and playing in front of friends and family, you want to play your best. I also know some of the guys on the Dal team, so it will be fun to go up against them in a game that’s important for both teams.”
The Tigers are 0-3 overall and 0-2 in league play. The Hurricanes enter the weekend in first place in the AFL with a 2-0 league record and 3-1 overall. Game time on Saturday is 2 p.m. game at Wickwire Field on the Dalhousie campus.
