AFL: Holland Hurricanes prepares to meet Dalhousie Tigers

The Holland College Hurricanes Football team will face the Dalhousie University Tigers at 3 p.m. this Saturday at MacAdam Field at UPEI in the second annual Football Heritage Classic.

The Football Heritage Classic honours former players from St. Dunstan’s, Prince of Wales and UPEI, with a ceremony at half time to recognize their contribution to the varsity football tradition on PEI.

This is the third game for the Hurricanes. Two weeks ago they beat the UNB Saint John Seawolves 62-0; and last week triumphed over the UNB Fredericton Red Bombers 44-28. Dalhousie, who played their first game last Saturday, lost to the Seawolves 33-6.

The Hurricanes will be looking to last week’s APM players of the game, defensive end Nathan Conway and running back Dave Clark to lead the way on defense and offense respectively. Hurricanes fans are looking forward to seeing return specialist Demetrius Ferguson in action once again. Ferguson has scored five touchdowns in the first two games, despite playing with a broken wrist.

“In a short season, every game is important. We hear that Dalhousie is a stronger team than last year’s squad, which went to the AFL league championship game. Fans can expect an entertaining, hard-fought contest,” said Mark MacDougall, head coach of the Hurricanes.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
