AFL: Wolfpack visit Drillers in final Saturday (video)


The Alberta Football League (AFL) finals take place this weekend at Legion Field (Saturday 7pm) home of the Grande Prairie Drillers. The Drillers host the Calgary Wolfpack and the winner earns the AFL crown as well as a right to travel to Ontario to play the NFC winner.

Semi-Final recap:

Lloydminister Vandals vs. Calgary Wolfpack

The Vandals attempt at repeating as AFL champions was thwarted by the Wolfpack. The Wolfpack took a 27 to 3 lead to the locker room and held on for a 34 to 26 victory. QB Darryl Leason had 352 yards, 4 TDs and 1 INT in the victory. Jordan Gruman led the defense with 7 solo tackles and 4 assisted tackles.

Grande Prairie Drillers vs. Central-Alberta Buccaneers

The Drillers, down 11 to 10 at half, came out flying in the second half and won 40 to 18. Drillers Symon Pfau had 3 receiving touchdowns, Johnny Warr finished with 137 yards receiving and Ty Bessette had a touchdown and 66 yards receiving, and RB Ray Moskalyk had 139 yards on 22 carries and one touchdown.
