GAMES OF THE WEEK:
Tier II

#1 Foothills Falcons at #6 Holy Trinity Academy Knights

Friday, October 15, 7:30 p.m.

Holy Trinity Academy High School (Okotoks)

The ā€œBattle of Okotoksā€ take on a different meaning this year as no longer it is the road to Provincials rather it is just for hometown bragging rights. But believe me ā€“ thatā€™s enough to make this the biggest deal in town next Friday. With the Knights now an official member of the Rangeland Football Conference their ticket to the Big Dance will be punched through that league in the ASAAā€™s Region 1 while Foothills remains an independent team in Region 2 and will earn their spot in Provincials via a crossover game against the Rockyview Leagues Tier II Champ on Nov. 7. Still wouldnā€™t want to miss this game and all the rivalry that comes with it.

Tier III

#6 Bow Valley Bobcats at #1 Cochrane Cobras

Saturday, October 16, 11:00 a.m.

Cochrane High School (Cochrane)

The ā€œBattle of Cochraneā€ is another canā€™t miss game this weekend. With both teams undefeated and the Cobras still smarting from their first ever loss to their crosstown rivals at Bow Valley last season this should be a dandy. In fact with tiny St. Timothyā€™s now fielding a Tier IV team in town and ranked in the Top 10 to boot, this quiet suburb of Calgary is making a case to be up there with the Sherwood Parks and Okotoks of the Province in terms of being an overall, top to bottom football hotbed. Donā€™t know whatā€™s up with the early start time but I wouldnā€™t sleep in this Saturday in Cochrane.

The teams are slotted into Tiers based on their estimated school size, which may change once official counts are known at the end of September. Please note that games vs. US opponents, or tournaments are not taken into consideration for ranking or listed in the overall record of the schools due to too many variables and inconsistent rules for those games.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
