After narrowly escaping their semi-final matchup against CNDF, the Spartiates are back to the Bol d’Or finals for the fifth time in six years. However, their recent record in such circumstances isn’t a particularly glowing one.

Since the RSEQ finals left the confines of Montreal in 2006, the Spartiates have lost in four of their five appearances, biting the dust in Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke, Quebec City and Chicoutimi. Perhaps the St-Jean-sur-Richelieu matchup could be different. After all, they’ll be only about 36 minutes away from the metropolis…

Nevertheless, the Spartiates haven’t won against Champlain-Lennoxville since September 29, 2012. Since then, they’ve been outscored 125 to 77 and beaten in the playoffs twice.

With star offensive players CFC 100 Mike Brian Lusikila (RB) and CFC 100 Frédérik-Xavier Duhamel (OL) still nursing injuries, Vieux Montréal will need to make a defensive stand. And against a team who’s averaged 57.5 points in their last two games, such a feat might prove impossible to accomplish…

The Cougars, on the other hand, annihilated a Vanier team regarded as having the best defensive unit in the game. Is there an answer to the offensive combo of CFC 100 Cédric Joseph (RB) and Marc-Antoine Pivin (REC)? Can the Cougars’ O-Line be breached?

Think fast Vieux Montréal. You’ve got a tremendous puzzle to solve on saturday…
