American commit now with Windsor Lancers

Lancers welcome international student to their Class of 2017.

Marquise Hathaway, a linebacker from Redford Union High School, might as well get a Nexis card to make crossing the boarder an easier process after signing with the Windsor Lancers.

Hathaway is currently a resident of Detroit, Michigan. Joining the legions of students in the Great White North can be a bit of a culture shock for an international student, but the young athlete has already been made quite comfortable.

“I chose to Commit to this school because Coach Clement and I have a good relationship. He makes sure I’m doing well in school, asks what I’m doing to get better, etc. This is a Great opportunity for me so why not take the chance,” he said, adding that he is interested in computer engineering.

“They are a really good group of coaches. They don’t tell you what you want to hear, they tell you what you need to hear.”

The 6’1, 230lbs dual linebacker and running back has played for 13 years. While with his high school team, the Redford Union Panthers, he won All-Conference and Second Team All-State honours. He is also a two-time MVP.

“I’m very excited to see what my future holds for me,” he said. “Hard work pays off.”
