TORONTO ย – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club announced Wednesday that they have signed former Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawk Shane Herbert.
Herbert, a 6-2, 186 lbs., defensive back, played for Laurier between 2007 and 2011. During that time, he played in 32 games recording 50 tackles and 16 knockdowns. One of his career highlights with the Hawks came in his final year when he returned an interception 107 yards against the Queen’s Gaels, the third longest interception return in team history.
With Herbert’s signing, the Golden Hawks now have five players currently signed to contracts in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He joins Chima Ihekwoaba (Montreal), Justin Phillips (Calgary), Yannick Carter (Calgary) and Shamawd Chambers (Edmonton). That number could jump to seven over the next couple of months if recent draft picks Isaac Dell and Alex Anthony ink contracts with Hamilton and Saskatchewan respectively.
