Alain Mainguy, offensive line coach of the Montreal Carabins, will not return to his position next year.
Mainguy, who was in this position during the last two seasons, recently informed Carabins Head Coach Danny Maciocia of his decision.
“It was a very difficult choice; it was my dream job,β said Mainguy. βI am very sad to leave, but at this time of my life, I have to prioritize my family and not think only of my own situation.β
βI spoke at length with my wife and with Danny and Marco (Iadeluca, offensive coordinator). Β With financial and family obligations, this is the decision I had to make.β
Mainguyβs spouse continues her doctoral studies and his daughter just turned one year old. He will soon return back to the education field. He moved his family from Quebec to Montreal in the spring of 2012 to begin a career as a full-time coach. He taught mathematics at the Academie Saint- Louis from 2007 to 2012, where he also coached football. From 2005 to 2011, he also led CEGEPβs FX Garneau Elanβs offensive line. A winner of a total of eight Bol DβOr Championships, he also won the World Junior Championship in 2012 with the Team Canada.
“We understand and respect the Alainβs decision,β said Carabins Head Coach Danny Maciocia, himself the father of three girls. βWe will miss him and wish him good luck in his new challenges.β
βWe sincerely thank him for the great job he did with a group of young players. He will always be welcome here. We should be able to hire a replacement quickly.Β We will review several solutions internally and I am hopeful that we can confirm it early next week.β
βI want to thank Danny for his confidence and for the opportunity he offered me two years ago,β said Mainguy. βI was welcomed here with open arms and it is an experience that will help me throughout my life.β
βThe Carabins are a leading organization and in my heart, I will always be associated with.β
