Offensive Player of the Week:
Ashton Dickson

Running back Ashton Dickson of the StFX X-Men is the Atlantic University Sport Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 16th, 2012.

Dickson, a 5-foot-9, second-year Arts student from Ottawa, Ont., had a game-high 96 rushing yards on 24 carries and scored two touchdowns for the X-Men in a 41-20 loss to the visiting Concordia Stingers. He also added one reception for 12 yards to finish with 108 all-purpose yards on the day.

Through two weeks of play, Ashton currently leads the AUS in rushing yards (246), rushing attempts (50) and rushing touchdowns (3). His average of 123.0 rushing yards per game ranks him third among CIS running backs.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Ed McNally
Linebacker
Acadia University
6’1”, 215 lbs.
Moncton, N.B.

Acadia linebacker Ed McNally is the Atlantic University Sport Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 16th, 2012.

McNally, a fifth-year student-athlete Moncton, N.B., recorded game-high 10.0 tackles this past weekend, including eight solo tackles in a 31-7 road loss to the CIS No. 3-ranked Laval Rouge et Or in Quebec City.

In his five seasons with the Axemen, Ed has now registered 124.5 tackles, tying him for 17th all-time in the conference and ranking him sixth in school history.

Special Teams Player of the Week:
Brett Lauther
Saint Mary’s University
6’1”, 195 lbs.
Truro, N.S.

Place kicker and punter Brett Lauther of the Saint Mary’s Huskies is the Atlantic University Sport Special Teams Player of the Week.

Lauther, a third-year Arts student from Truro, N.S., had an impressive game in a close 23-22 home loss to the Sherbrooke Vert et Or this past weekend at Huskies Stadium in Halifax.

Brett was a perfect 5-of-5 on field goal attempts, with the shortest effort coming from the 38-yard line and three others from beyond 40 yards. He also ran for a first down on a punt fake, was successful with an onside kick attempt and averaged better than 41.2 yards on 10 punts to earn Subway player of the game honours.

Lauther, who has kicked five field goals in a single game twice in his three years with the Huskies, is now tied for 11th in AUS career field goals made with 31. Brett was named an AUS all-star last season after leading the AUS and CIS in scoring with 91 points.
