Atmosphere of MTA lures in GTA WR commit

MTA brings in an out-of-province commit to their Class of 2017.

Robert Walker, a wide receiver from Nelson High School, will be leaving the only place he has known for football as he heads to the east coast to join the Mount Allison University Mounties.

It was the prospect of connection and a redeemable education that drew Walker to New Brunswick. The future psychology student said he chose Mount Allison because of the family atmosphere and the amazing academics.

But, there was something more boding that made Walker stay. “I loved the coaching staff,” he said. “They show lots of interest in more than just football, like our academics and how we fit in with the team.”

Standing at 5’8, 185lbs, Walker will be brining some Burlington, Ontario, flair to the Mounties locker room. He capped off a five-year career with a Halton and OFSAA championship win with the 2016 edition of the Nelson Lords (Halton School Athletic Association). His stellar play that year earned him the ‘Unsung Hero’ award at the Lords’ athletic banquet.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
