Tristan Bart

CEGEP linebacker joins RSEQ team’s 2014 class

A CEGEP standout has committed to a RSEQ school which he believes is the best in the nation.

Tristan Bart is one of the newest recruits to join the Bishopโ€™s Gaiters.ย  The 6โ€™2, 225 pound linebacker from Saint Sylvestre sur Lot, France is thrilled with his decision.

โ€œBishop is for me the best choice of universities in Quebec,โ€ explained Bart of his decision.ย  โ€œMy course of study is only at Bishopโ€™s (sport studies).โ€

โ€œThe fact that Bishopโ€™s University is an English-speaking university is another positive thing. I am going to graduate from there qualified and bilingual. The coaches are really close to me and I feel as though I am in a family even though I have not begun yet.โ€

Two other factors played into the decision โ€“ the impressive run the Gaiters had in the 2013 RSEQ season and facilities.

โ€œSeveral universities were interested in me but Bishopโ€™s remains for me the school that is going to be able to offer me the most,โ€ added the Quebec linebacker.ย  โ€œThe new sports complex, the follow-up and the performances of the team in the 2013 season convinced me to commit to Bishopโ€™s.โ€

Bart joins the Gaiters after a successful CEGEP career with Division 2 team, Thetford Mines Filons.ย  During his time there, he was honoured with Defensive Rookie of the Year.ย  His began playing football for a small French team called Sayans of Bias) and has been passionate about the game ever since. He has played at both middle and outside linebacker positions.
