Tristan Bart

CEGEP linebacker joins RSEQ team’s 2014 class

A CEGEP standout has committed to a RSEQ school which he believes is the best in the nation.

Tristan Bart is one of the newest recruits to join the Bishop’s Gaiters.Β  The 6’2, 225 pound linebacker from Saint Sylvestre sur Lot, France is thrilled with his decision.

β€œBishop is for me the best choice of universities in Quebec,” explained Bart of his decision.Β  β€œMy course of study is only at Bishop’s (sport studies).”

β€œThe fact that Bishop’s University is an English-speaking university is another positive thing. I am going to graduate from there qualified and bilingual. The coaches are really close to me and I feel as though I am in a family even though I have not begun yet.”

Two other factors played into the decision – the impressive run the Gaiters had in the 2013 RSEQ season and facilities.

β€œSeveral universities were interested in me but Bishop’s remains for me the school that is going to be able to offer me the most,” added the Quebec linebacker.Β  β€œThe new sports complex, the follow-up and the performances of the team in the 2013 season convinced me to commit to Bishop’s.”

Bart joins the Gaiters after a successful CEGEP career with Division 2 team, Thetford Mines Filons.Β  During his time there, he was honoured with Defensive Rookie of the Year.Β  His began playing football for a small French team called Sayans of Bias) and has been passionate about the game ever since. He has played at both middle and outside linebacker positions.
