Having played football for 8 years, Mike has spent the majority of his time with the Brantford Bisons. Previously, he was a member of the Hamilton Panthers (now the Hurricanes). Since 2010, he has received the Bison Award twice,  and also grabbing two Defensive MVP Awards.

Last fall as a starting safety for North Park Trojans junior football team, Mike led the team to a City Championship, winning 22-0 as the underdog and finishing the season at 7-1.

“This was one of the most competitive seasons I had ever been apart of,” says Mike.  “It isn’t one, which I will soon forget.”

When it comes to football, nobody influences or pushes Mike more than his trainer, Jykine Bradley, who previously played corner and safety at the University of Tennessee. His resume also includes a season with the Buffalo Bills in 2004, followed by a move to the CFL playing numerous seasons as a Hamilton Tiger-cat and one season as an Edmonton Eskimo.

Mike has always loved watching Troy Polamalu and his style of safety play. As one of his favourite players, he’s always trying to adopt pieces of Troy’s game over to his.

“He’s not afraid of contact and neither am I,” says Mike.

Every day of the week Mike works out to improve his physical ability. Whether it’s hitting the gym at school or training at Bradley Sports Performance, he’s always focused on the big picture.

“These next few years of football are going to be very important for me,” says Mike.  “My goal is to play competitive football at the university level.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
