The BC high school “Subway Bowl” championships were played at BC Place Stadium on Saturday December 3rd. Five games were played, starting with the Grade 8 championship between Lord Tweedsmuir and St. Thomas More. That game was followed by the Junior Varsity Double A Championship (Mission vs. John Barsby) and Triple A championship (Mt. Douglas vs. St. Thomas More). The day was completed with the Senior Double A championship (Mission vs. John Barsby) and the Senior Triple A championship (W.J. Mouat vs. Mt. Douglas).

– Tweedsmuir had perfect 10 and 0 season
– Demarcus Singleton, Terrell Jana, and QB Ben Colwell were the offensive stars for LT

Double A – John Barsby 22 Mission 20

– JBs Brandon Parker had a 63 yard TD run with 7:40 remaining to put his team up 22 to 14
– Mission QB Evan Horton ran and passed the ball – at one point running 10 straight plays – had a 47 yard run for a TD and 34 yard TD pass
– Barsby avenged last years final loss to Mission (33-8)
Triple A – St. Thomas More 27 Mount Douglas 20
– STM linebacker Jordan McKenzie has an important 4th quarter interception
– Rams Marcus Davis electrified crowd with a 90 yard kick return TD – an injury mid way through the 3rd quarter ended Davis’ game
– STMs Jalen Jana had 3 TDs on the day
– Rams Julian Luis had a 3-yard TD run in 4th quarter
SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Double A – Mission 16 John Barsby 12
– Mission’s QB Kevin Wiens was game MVP
– Mission’s RB Jesse Forcier carried 18 times for 84 yards
– JBs Nathan Berg (AA player of year) carried 24 times for 150 yards
Triple A – Mount Douglas Rams 42 W.J. Mouat Haws 35
– Mouat led 21 to 0 and 28 to 6
– 2nd highest AAA scoring game in 77-year history
– Rams scored on ‘hail mary’ on last play of 1st half
– Rams Mason Swift was game MVP – 158 yards rushing and receiving – 3 TDs
– Rams QB Jordan Deverill had 362 yards passing on 23 of 30 attempts and 3 TDs
– Hawks Devin Logan had 155 yards on 18 carries
– Hawks Deon Bain had 6 catches for 98 yards
– Hawks Jake Heathcote had 17 tackles
