BC high school games of the week (nov 19)

Games of the Week Preview AAA:

Vancouver College vs. STM, Friday 8pm, UBC Thunderbird Stadium

Vancouver College had an undefeated regular season and looked as good as anyone else in the province. St. Thomas More won a hard fought game last Saturday with New West to earn the right into the Quarterfinals.

The two teams played each other back on September 18th a game that Vancouver College won 28-7.

Expect this game to be fought on the ground with both teams featuring good running games but it will be as much as battle of quarterbacks as well with Jeff Tichelman (picture) and Mikey Carney for the Irish and Knights respectively to also feature big in this game. With that said don’t rule out the defence’s playing a factor as both teams have solid pass rushers and can play in tight games.

This has the potential to be the best game of the Wildcard weekend and can be seen Live on BCHIGHSCHOOLFOOTBALL.COM.

AA: Mission vs. Seaquam, Friday 3:00pm, UBC Thunderbird Stadium

Seaquam is coming of the largest margin of victory in the Wildcard round, a 62-0 win over PGSS. Mission is playing for the first time in 14 days and when they last played they sustained their only loss of the regular season to Windsor.

Seaquam was led during the regular season by the dominate running of Greg Finley (picture) who rushed for over 600 yards with 5 touchdowns. The Seahawks also had a dominate defence during the regular season giving up the second fewest points in the entire AA league, 60. Mission has a solid running game and a quarterback in Tanner Pierce who might be one of the best at AA. Their defensively sound as well with Zach Chamberland’s 46 tackles and 2 sacks.

This has all the makings of a Jim Ross sloberknocker.

Tier 2: Howe Sound vs Frank Hurt, Saturday Noon, UBC Thunderbird Stadium

Frank Hurt has taken down the Sounders twice this year but Howe Sound has found their power game. A stingy Hornet defence looks to bottle up the Howe Sound RB and come out with a trip to the Bob Ackles Cup next weekend vs the Island champion
