BC LIONS BCFC Players of the Week (6): West, Going, and Joseph named

BC LIONS British Columbia Football Conference Players of the Week (6)

OFFENCE

Mike West / REC/ VI Raiders

8 receptions for 197 yards

The VI Raiders were in a game that went back and forth in momentum swings for about 3 quarters Sunday afternoon as the Raiders offense had to answer an Okanagan Sun side that was clicking.

Answer the VI Raiders offense did, and in the process MIke West was quarterback Jake Laberge’s go to receiver giving the Sun secondary fits all day.

DEFENSE

Tyler Going / LB / Okanagan Sun

5 tackles / 2 assists / 2 sacks / 1 interception

The Okanagan Sun were facing a game and determined VI Raiders offense Sunday, requiring some spectacular playmaking from the defense.

Linebacker Tyler Going was up to the challenge, making plays every way possible, including spending much of the afternoon in the Raiders backfield. His third quarter interception was key as the Sun used that turnover as they started to pull away from the visitors.

This is the second straight week Going takes home defensive player honours.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Maximillian Joseph / Returner / Langley Rams

2 kick returns 100 yards & TD / 1 punt return 8 yards

You likely won’t find much argument that Maximillian (don’t call me Max) Joseph isn’t the premier returner in the conference. He took the opening kick-off 100 yards to the end zone just to serve notice to the Huskers they would be in for a long night.

Joseph was in the running for offensive player of the week as well as he had an exceptional night rushing and catching the ball.
