BC Lions’ Paul McCallum and Andrew Harris up for Best of BC Award

BC Lions kicker-punter Paul McCallum (Surrey Rams) and running back Andrew Harris (VI Raiders) are among five athletes who are up for this year’s Best of BC Award presented by the Province of British Columbia.

You can submit your vote from now until February 27 at Sport BC’s website to let them know you think was the most outstanding BC professional or amateur athlete in 2011.

Harris began the year as the Lions’ backup running back but took over the starter’s role partway through the season finishing with 853 yards and eight touchdowns with 11 starts. In the 99th Grey Cup game against Winnipeg, Harris rushed for 65 yards on 10 carries, scored a touchdown, and was named the Most Outstanding Canadian.

McCallum made the CFL records books this season when he set a new record for most all-time consecutive field goals made with 30. The 19-year CFL veteran holds the league record for longest field goal made (62 yards) and highest field goal kicking accuracy in a single season (94.34 percent).

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
