BC Lions Statement Regarding Yonus Davis

Vancouver – The BC Lions Football Club has been made aware that Yonus Davis has recently been detained in the state of California.

General Manager and head coach Wally Buono has issued the following statement:

β€œWe are aware of an incident that involves Yonus and we will continue to gather additional information. He remains part of our football club while the investigation process takes its course and we will not comment further at this time.”

Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents say Davis was in possession of 67 pounds of ecstasy. That adds up to around 40,000 tablets, so this is not some minor recreational drug usage. Brown added that Davis could face up to a $1 million fine and/or 20 years in prison, which fits under the DEA’s penalties for a first-time offender found guilty of trafficking β€œother Schedule I & II drugs.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
