BC: Must watch games of the week (Nov. 24-28)


It’s the penultimate week of football action in both BC Community Football and BC High School Football. The week gets off to an early start with BC High School’s Jr. AA Division opening on Wednesday before the excitement reaches a fever pitch on Saturday and Sunday with a whole slew of games throughout the province.

BC High School Football (Jr. AA and Jr. AAA Divisions)

Semifinals in the Junior divisions of BC High School Football get this week’s action off on an early note.
In Jr. AA action, the first semifinal gets underway on Wednesday, November 24 with Ballenas facing John Barsby. The game takes place at John Barsby High School and kicks off at 2:00 pm. The other Jr. AA semifinal goes on Thursday, November 25 at noon out at Burnaby Lakes when Mission faces Hugh Boyd.
In Jr. AAA action, WJ Mouat hosts Mt. Douglas on Thursday, November 25 at 3:00 pm in one semifinal while the other semifinal will feature Vancouver College facing St. Thomas More at 3:00 pm out at Burnaby Lakes on the same day.

BC Community Football Association 12-man Midget Semi-Final

Just four teams remain alive in the hunt for the BCCFA Midget title and after this Sunday, November 28, the two teams that will be headed to the championship final on December 5 in Langley will be known.
The two match-ups this Sunday will feature the eighth-seeded Victoria Spartans facing the third-seeded Cloverdale Bengals in one semi-final at Cloverdale Athletic Park (1:00 pm), while the seventh-seeded Mission 9ers battling the fifth-seeded North Delta Longhorns in the other semi-final at John Oliver Park in North Delta (2:00 pm).

Vancouver Mainland Football League

Champions of the VMFL will be crowned this Sunday, November 28 in the Atom, Pee Wee and Bantam Divisions with spots in the BCCFA 12-man provincial championship up for grabs. For game location information, please visit www.vmfl.ca.
In the Atom Division, the two top teams will go head-to-head with the top-seeded Westside Warriors battling the second-seeded Cloverdale Lions at 10:00 am. The Pee Wee Division will see a clash between he top-seeded Coquitlam Wildcats versus the third-seeded South Delta Rams at 12:30 pm. Finally, in the Bantam Division, it will also be a battle of the two top seeds with the number one North Surrey Tigers battling with the number two Langley Mustangs at 3:00 pm. The higher-seeded team in each contest will be the host team. Game locations can be found at www.vmfl.ca.
There is also action in the Jr. Bantam ranks with the VMFL champion Coquitlam Raiders battling the Vancouver Island champions Victoria Renegades. The winner will earn a spot at the BCCFA 12-man provincial championships. The game will be hosted by the Victoria Renegades at Bear Mountain Field on Sunday, November 28 at 1:00 pm. Valley Community Football League (Atom and Bantam divisions)

Field closures at Townsend Park in Chilliwack last weekend resulted in the cancellation of the Atom and Bantam League final games. These games will be replayed again this week. Please visit [URL]http://www.allprosoftware.net/vcfl for game times and location.
The games in the two respective divisions are as follows:
Atom Division: Abbotsford Falcons vs Meadow Ridge Knights Blue
Bantam: Chilliwack Giants vs Abby-Mission Falcons-Niners
The respective winners will advance to the BC Community 12-man provincial championships on December 5.

Southern Interior Football Conference / Valley Community Football League (Pee Wee and Jr. Bantam)

The SIFC Pee Wee champions Kelowna-Mission Lions will be tangle with the VCFL Pee Wee champions Chilliwack Giants Blue with the winner earning a berth in the provincial championship on December 5.
The SIFC Jr. Bantam champions Kelowna Dragons will be facing the VCFL Jr. Bantam champions Abbotsford Falcons with the winner earning a berth in the provincial championship on December 5.

BC High School Football (Sr. AA and Sr. AAA Divisions)

It’s Semifinal Saturday in BC High School Football with spots in the championship final up for grabs for teams in the Sr. AA and Sr. AAA Division.
Thunderbird Stadium will host a pair of Sr. AA games and a pair of Sr. AAA games all this Saturday, November 27 beginning at 10:00 am when Handsworth takes on Windsor in an AA Division clash. At 3:00 pm, the other semi-final tilt in the AA Division will see John Barsby take on Mission.
AAA Division action gets underway at 5:30 pm with the defending champs from Centennial facing off against Terry Fox. Finally, at 8:00 pm, WJ Mouat will go up against Vancouver College.
The winners of the respective semifinal games will go onto the BC High School Football championships to take place on Saturday, December 4 at Empire Field in Vancouver, BC.
The Tier II championship game will also take place at Thunderbird Stadium this Saturday. The contest will feature Belmont versus Frank Hurt and will kickoff at 12:30 pm.
