BCFC: BC Lions Players of the Week (7): Albertini, Slagman & Thomas

The British Columbia Football Conference is proud to announce their “BC Lions Players of the Week” for Week 7 of the regular season.

Offensive Player of the Week

Running Back #5 Kyle Albertini – Langley Rams
The Langley Rams continued their dominance of the Westshore Rebels this past weekend with a 49-17 victory at home.  The Rams would use the run game to perfection as Kyle Albertini carried the load with 22 carries for 215 yards, an average of 9.7 yards a carry.    The third year rusher would also score two touchdowns, naming him the “BC Lions Offensive Player of the Game.”

Defensive Player of the Week
Linebacker #88 Brody Slagman – Valley Huskers

The closest game of the weekend was in Chilliwack as the visiting Kamloops Broncos defeated the Valley Huskers in a tight 25-20 game.  The Huskers defense was led by the “BC Lions Defensive Player of the Game,” Brody Slagman.  The Red Deer native would recover a fumble and rumble 57 yards for a touchdown, lead the club with seven solo tackles, had one assist and two quarterback sacks.  It’s the second time this season Slagman has won this award.

Special Teams Player of the Week
Kicker #30 Steve Thomas – Langley Rams

The Langley Rams would score another 49 points over the weekend and now lead the BCFC with 291 points scored.  Kicker Steve Thomas would account for 13 of those 49 points, hitting field goals from 12 and 20 yards out, and was a perfect six for six in converts.  The “BC Lions Special Teams Player of the Week” also compiled seven kickoffs for 415 yards, averaging 59.3 yards a kick and recorded a single.  His lone punt traveled just 19 yards.  This is the second time this season Thomas has won this award.

Week 8 of the BCFC will see the first place Langley Rams visit the second place Vancouver Island Raiders, the third seeded Okanagan Sun travel to battle the fourth seeded Valley Huskers, while the Kamloops Broncos host the Westshore Rebels.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
