The British Columbia Football Conference is pleased to announce the βBC Lions Players of the Weekβ for Week 3 of the 2013 season.
Last weekβs Game of the Week featured a rematch of the 2012 Cullen Cup Championship.Β The Langley Rams would record their second straight win in Nanaimo over the VI Raiders.Β Β Β The βBC Lions Offensive Player of the Weekβ was Raiders receiverΒ Whitman TomusiakΒ who was a major factor in keeping the Raiders close.Β He would set new team records with 11 catches for 225 yards.Β He would also haul in two touchdown passes.
The Valley Huskers would record their first road win in 18 tries with a 33-30 victory in Kamloops.Β LinebackerΒ Brody SlagmanΒ was instrumental on the Huskers defensive side of the ball.Β He would record six tackles, three special teams tackles and would force a fumble.Β For his efforts, he was named the βBC Lions Defensive Player of the Week.β
For the second consecutive week, the βBC Lions Special Teams Player of the Weekβ is Valley Huskers kickerΒ Dan Erickson.Β He would finish three of four in field goals, hitting from 24, 37 and 45 yards out, while hitting a perfect three for three in converts.Β He would also punt nine times for 457 yards and record a single, his average kick travelled 50.8 yards.Β Erickson tallied four kick offs for 178 yards.
Week 4 in the BCFC will have a full slate of games as the Langley Rams (3-0) travel to face the Westshore Rebels (0-3), while the Okanagan Sun (2-1) are on the road in Kamloops to take on the Broncos (0-2-1).Β The VI Raiders (1-2) will host the Valley Huskers (2-0-1).
