The British Columbia Football Conference is pleased to announce the Week One βPlayers of the Weekβ of 2011.

The five time defending BCFC champion Vancouver Island Raiders didnβt miss a beat offensively in week 1 of the season against the Langley Rams. With most of their weapons returning the Raiders put up 39 points thanks in large part to the Offensive Player of the Week quarterback Jordan Yantz. He would complete 15 of 29 for 276 yards and had three touchdowns. His efficiency rating was a terrific 119%. He would also use his feet to help lead the Raiders, rushing for 11 yards.
In Kamloops, the Broncos appear to be much improved following their 3-7 record from last year. Defensively the club was led by one of their leaders, the Defensive Player of the Week, Mitch Day. The fourth year vet compiled eight tackles, a sack, forced a fumble and seemed to be in the Okanagan Sun backfield for most of the night. Day was also very good leading the wedge during special teams.
The BCFC Special Teams Player of the Week is Westshore Rebels kicker Quinn Van Gylswyk. The second year kicker had a busy afternoon as the Rebels opened their season in Chilliwack. He accounted for 10 points including two field goals from 47 and 15 yards out. Van Gylswyk would kick off five times and compile an average of 58 yards including a bombing 64 yard kick. His punting ability would pin the Huskers deep in their own end all afternoon as he would punt six times for 222 yards, his longest being 55 yards.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
